Remote Shooting

Remote shooting is a lot of fun!

It gives me the opportunities to work with top models live far away. Each model has her very own style, and each provides a different set of shooting environments. But they all share one amazing skill, which is, to hold a pose for a long time, and every poses captured in the camera look natural and beautiful.

On April 10th, 2021, I had the pleasure to demonstrate remote shooting to my VA Photo Club members, with the very talented UK model Ivory Flame.

Model Ivory Flame and I used Zoom to demo remote shoot to my VA Club members

We did this with Zoom. About 85 photographers joined this zoom meeting. During the demo, I used Zoom to obtain control of Ivory’s computer. Then through her computer, I used Canon Capture software to control Ivory’s camera (this is called tethered shooting).

Ivory’s studio has a big window with very soft natural light. She also provided vintage styled backdrop, a Rococo chair, and several LED color lights to give special ‘mood’.

We started with a classical portrait setup, and moved to more contemporary style. In the end several club members tried to give directions to Ivory, and we took several portraits with Ivory standing near the curtain.

The following are images from this remote session (the standing portrait was directed by Jeff Yu).
